The Ultra100 controller card provides two IDE hard disk connectors that support Ultra ATA/100 protocols. It is used for such demanding programs as real-time videomultimediaand high-performance operating systems. Ultra100 installs into any available 32-bit peripheral component interconnect (PCI) slot on the motherboard. Each of the two IDE connectors support a master and slave combination of hard disks. The connectors are compatible with all IDE hard disksincluding IDEenhanced IDE (EIDE)and Fast-ATA-2 standards. Devices of different standards can be connected to Ultra100 without performance degradationdue to the independent programmable timing registers in the controllers design.
